God is good and it has been just over 2 months since the surgery. It was a very smart decision and I don't regret it one bit. Hubby thinks I look great and I feel great. All the best, CC.

There is nothing you need to say or do--except to let the tech know that you had the implants removed. Now you should get a good reading as you probably have read the implants cause a problem with hiding breast tissue or growths that could be a problem. Also, there is no need to worry that your implants will rupture from the mammogram Rosie

Member Posts: 63 Feb 5 12 10:07 PM	Dear Friends.As I have been sharing in Part I, I am in a very quiet mode. I have been walking ,near a Golf Course, where I live. I am not depressed, I am just wanting to be attuned with God's Peace and Direction. My search, before the surgery was long.. Many years of going to different Drs, During this process I heard a few times, that in my case it was Medically Necessary. So I started using that term whenever I saw a Dr. My primary Dr agreed, and always when he would send his notes to other Drs. He would use this term. Here are just some of them: . I almost accepted a complete mastectomy.. With 2 different Drs. Then another recommended a Spare mastectomy. Another Dr. Director of a main Hospital ,told me : To leave them like that because the results were no going to be good. He was right, because cosmetically the results are not beautiful.. But what he did not even take into consideration was all the damage that this silicone had been doing in my body. Because many ( I guess) Plastic Surgeons, Oncologist Drs.etc. Don't accept that silicone migrates. There was a Plastic Surgeon that told me that it was imperative to take them out ..but that insurance would not cover it. . I went to a Dr, that told me I needed an explant..And leave them like that for a while. This was the first time I heard this term.. Finally I got the En Bloc.Explant Info . And got to this forum. And I started asking Drs. about this procedure. And also reading a lot, searching a lot, talking to the right people. I got to meet , Dr Edward Melmed, through the internet and by phone. I must say that Dr Edward Melmed is an awesome person and I have heard a Fantastic Dr,, He answered many questions by e- mail. Even though , I think he knew I was looking for a Dr that accepted my insurance where I live. He was so supportive, and I was not his patient. I am very grateful to him. . Well, concerning en bloc procedure: A Dr, here in Miami was charging a lot of money.. And his office would not even consider asking my insurance. Another Dr, was accepted by my insurance,, BUT he would not answer all my questions about the en-bloc. And I did not like the way I was treated. My self esteem was very shattered.by him. So I let him go.. This was a very depressing moment.. As I had to start all over again Another Dr., after weeks of going back and forth, did not accept what the insurance paid for this procedure. Until I got to Dr Jeffrey Gibson in Oct 2011.. And guess what? I got sick with vertigo and got a very heavy flu, bronchitis-etc. This delayed the surgery until Jan 17 2012. By this time Silicone had migrated near the clavicle. Dr Jeffrey is a very compassionate, Dr. He likes to answer all your questions. And knew from the beginning that my case was a very difficult one.. His office staff is very supportive too.. He has a lot of experience with en bloc explants. He mentioned this was the worse silicone explant case he had encountered, of his many years of doing this procedure. All through these years I kept doing Mri's.. I had symptoms, like the ones so many of you have described, but did not pay attention to it.. For many, many years. I don't know really, if the deformity I had from previous surgery made me not pay attention to these symptoms,, Because anyways they were not beautiful.. And, Maybe it was too painful for me to recognize.. And the truth is that I don't need to go there. .Because I have been forgiving myself. And God Is so Good!!! Through my journey, of course, I have been working in my profession. Also praying and doing meditation. And very dear friends helping me. And then I met , Rosie, Grace, Aida, And the ladies in this forum. So, if your search has been short or long, don't dismay,, Keep walking, Have your questions answered. It sure will help others realize the how frustrating it can be to find the correct surgeon to do what needs to be done. You have been on a difficult path for a long time now and I'm glad that you are nearing the end phase of acceptance and healing. This is great that you are spending some time in exercising and quiet time to adjust to it all and help yourself heal. As I have previously shared with you, I had a mastectomy done in 1982 and had the implants for that reason so I also have been left with deformity. It took me about a year to completely adjust but I'm very comfortable now with wearing the external prosthetics and great bras they have out for these things now. Also, there is hope with the new Stem Cell options that are now coming out, if you choose to do something later on. The most important thing is that you are such a beautiful person on the inside and that beauty shines through! I hope each day brings you improved health and happiness! Hang in there! Blessings! For me is "the unknown" that I really don't have any control of the outcome. Concerning my life, my work. I think , and it is not a cliche thought for me. We go through a change of reinventing ourselves after something like this or even with other life changes. It does take some time to do this but when we ebrace our fears with the intention of moving forward with these changes there is nothing keeping us from making these transformations (big or small). There are no wrong moves with God on our side. I took some time to read books, watched movies with strong female leads and did some brainstorming about the best way to change my life and live a productive life after explant. It's also a good time to lean on your support system and get ideas. I don't know what I would have done without all the wonderful sisters that were there for me encouraging me forward. Remember that fear of the unknown is completely natural as all of us are terrified by changes. At the same time, though, we need to make them in order to have a full productive life. I see you moving in the right direction by taking time for this healing process and spending time reflecting on things with your walks. You are a very strong and confident woman and I see you doing wonderful things in your future! Hang in there, my friend! There is life after explant and it's a good one! Rosie

The skin sensitivity should ease up with time---it's quite common with either augmentation or explant as nerve endings are moved around or cut during surgery. Hang in there! Have a blessed evening! Member Posts: 63 Feb 15 12 4:53 PM	Dear Friends, Dr Jeffrey did not have a specific answer for my rash..Although he told me basically what you've been telling me. I am feeling better, and have been putting hydro cortisone cream in the area where the bra touches my skin. It helps. I have an appointment with the immunologist Dr in 2 weeks.. Maybe we'll have some answers, that can help other ladies too, that can confront the same issues. But I feel everything is going to be all right. Until now, the rest seems OK.. Except, as I told you before, for the way "my girls" look. Even though I was prepared, because Dr Jeffrey told me so.. Confronting reality, is a different thing. I know that when I start getting involved in my profession, I will feel better. I still don't know when, but I am praying I will be feeling much better when the time comes.. As I really need those finances. Waiting for the surgery and postponing it 4 times, and getting sick too, Is not having a good impact on my finances at all. I imagine some of you can relate, because this are very trying financial times. My faith is sustaining me even though sometimes I get fearful. I am trying not to let my mind give me all the BS it wants. Some days better than others. But prayer and meditation helps a lot with the crazy mind. But with time many wonderful things will happen.!!! This Friday 2-17 will be a month. From my surgery!! Time really flies.. Don't you think?/ My best wishes to each one of you.. Things will continue to improve although slowly and never quick enough for most of us who want it NOW. Be patient as you can. Soon you'll be back to work. That will help to distract you. Gracie gave you some sage advice.... try to think about your work coming in soon and how things will change. There was a good quote that I read the other day about life being like an ocean full of waves but it's up to us to choose a good wave to surf on. That's not the quote.. but something close to that and I had to think about how very true that is. In order to survive we have to think positive to draw positive. You have had such a long spell of bad luck--but that is sure to change in the near future! You will probably be like some of us that it just takes a little longer because of all the spillage of silicone in your system..... Keep focused on the fact that it is out now, surgery is past and day by day you'll do better! Since you are facing the deformity issues, that will continue to be mixed emotions that do go up and down, depending on the day and situation. it does get better, I promise! Have you been able to get to to look at the external prosthetics yet? I think you'll feel much better when you have those and can begin making them a new part of you. I love mine...
