Loyal Member Posts: 12947 Sep 9 09 8:38 PM Gracie	I think most of the women I have seen afterward, look better after implants are out! Not all, but most, IMO. I was one who had very little breast size but am still happy to have the implants out. Most women themselves are happier once they're out. It is just so important to go to a experienced surgeon.

Loyal Member Posts: 12947 Sep 10 09 6:55 PM Gracie	I was a 36 AA pre-op and a 36 C after BA. I had explant in 2004 with a lift but really believe I didn't need one. I can't say for sure. I was new to the internet at that time. I wish I could have gone to the likes of a Feng, Kolb or Melmed. There are other good surgeons out there but I took the advice of someone and should have done more research at the time. I still would have been flat but might have had better scars and less adhesion. That's the way it went for me.

He was one of the sympathetic surgeons back in the late 1980's when many women were wanting them out because of medical scare. I guess that most plastic surgeons at that time avoided taking them out. Dr. Hiatt's motto is that a person has just as much right to take them out as they do to get them put in. I am very impressed with that attitude as well as the number and period of time that he has been performing the explant surgery. My body is really so scarred up from having four babies that it would take several thousands of dollars to fix me. It's funny though, when we are faced with hardships like these I think that it makes us better people. We have no choice but to realize what is really important in life. I feel most blessed when I'm humbled. Thank you for sharing your experiences with me. Sharing is healing.

I believe many lifts are done that are not neccesary... the body heals with time and the tissue "fluff" or fills back in. It does take some time though-- It's funny though, when we are faced with hardships like these I think that it makes us better people. We have no choice but to realize what is really important in life. I feel most blessed when I'm humbled. So true! Do you have a surgery date yet? Hugs. Rosie

I called and asked if he would be willing to look at my pre-op pictures and current ones and maybe make a call on whether or not he thought I would possibly need a lift. It's kind of hard when you can't actually go in and see the doctor due to distance. I am thinking that I may still contact Dr. Melmed also. I have read so much about him and seen so many wonderful results. How much time does it take for the CC to get worse? I am thinking that I will have to schedule anywhere from 3-8 months away from now. I just don't want to allow too much time to make my situation worse.

Hi, the CC does take time so I believe that you are well into the safe range for waiting the 3 to 8 months. Each one of us is unique and the time varies with how badly our body is rejecting this foreign object.... so I wouldn't push it any longer then that. You'll know from the pain level and hardness of the breast that has the CC. Dr. Melmed is one of our top three doctors and if I would have had that option, I would choose him in a heartbeat! He is my hero... Did you see the article that was posted in one of our other forums that he did for Sports Magazine? Excellent... a must see! If you can't locate it let me know and I'll post the link. Rosie

One of the hardest parts of this is locating the surgeon and the waiting. Hang in there and I'm sure that you'll feel much better when the decision has been made and you have the date set. The other doctor that is located closer to you is probably perfectly able to do the surgery. I had to make a decision like that because of finances. It all worked out well -- I had seen Dr. Feng and she sent all my tests and reports to a doctor that lives in my state. We'll be sending good vibes your way! Rosie

Member Posts: 1 Nov 5 09 2:58 AM	Hello. This is my first post to this forum. It is way past my bedtime but I can't tear myself away from your stories and support. Dr Melmed stated that "unless you are as thin as a rail, women can look normal after explantation". Yikes! I was AA prior to and B now with 300cc implants. I have VERY low body fat and during the last of my three surgeries, the very good and skilled doctor did remove some breast tissue due to rupture and hardening. Anybody have any thoughts? Please don't sugar-coat it as I want to know what I am in for. Thank you, sincerely!

My pics of before and after are here under our storys and the main message is every one is different and results are all there own,,,,I hope this helps. Please try and see his work,,,,when I was ther at his offfice he showed me soooo many photos it was amazing!!!!! LC

It takes awhile to get back to looking completely normal again.. For the first few months to maybe a year post implant there is a process that we refer to as "fluffing" where your body starts to heal and fill in. You can read some of our ladies stories here on the forum and you'll find that about 98 to 99 percent of the women are happier to have the implants out and are happy with the results. I hope you will turn out to be one of them as well. I have no regrets and am sooo happy that those toxic bags are out of me! Let us know if you have any questions... we are here for you. Rosie

For some reason, I thought a lift would help me but in retrospect I wish I had not done the lift as I would have more tissue even if it were a bit saggy. Its not easy and it took me awhile to get to the point where I no longer cared what I was going to look like. My health was declining rapidly. Now its not an issue at all. Granted I wish I had more tissue but, who really cares. I`am small, smaller than I started out with but I look okay. My surgeon did a fantastic job. You too will be okay.
