Hello Everyone! Thank you for making me feel welcome and for helping me realize I am not alone. I saw Dr. Young in St. Louis, yesterday, for my consult. I did extensive research before scheduling the appt.,and he is a leading breast implant expert in the country. But, he told me he does not remove the capsule for saline implants, including textured. He said the risks of doing so (bleeding, etc.), outweigh the risks of leaving the capsule in. I don't know if this applies only to my situation, because I have little to no natural breast tissue and large implants, or if this is his process for everyone? I am confused!

He will not remove my implants with a local anesthesia. I also called the surgeon, who placed the implants originally (Dr. Baker in Kansas City), to ask about his removal procedures.
He does not remove the capsule for saline implants either. He also said he could remove them with a local anesthesia.

Why are doctors not willing to remove the capsule? Is the "en bloc" surgery really risky and dangerous?
